What is ProGolfTalk? |
||
| ProGolfTalk is being created to focus attention upon the most underrated, underreported and undervalued aspect of professional golf: the world of mini-tours. Many current tour players made their way to the PGA Tour by learning to play competitive golf on the mini-tour circuit (LeeJanzen, John Daly and Tom Lehman come to mind.). At the present time no other publication or website has a primary focus the coverage and promotion of mini-tour professional tournaments. ProGolfTalk seeks to change that. | ||
| Why MIni-Tour Golf? | Plans for the Web Site | Plans for Printing |
| Mini-tour golf is pure competitive golf. Players who believe in their
abilities put up their own money and may the best player win.
Mini-tour professional golf offers: - democratic fairness: anyone can play, just pay the fee and compete - a way to work one's way to the PGA Tour. Not all good players have equal opportunities. Those players who can't go straight to Tour School need a place to develop as players. Mini-tour golf is a primary means to that end - an overlooked entry-level opportunity for businesses to enter sports marketing - a spectator-friendly way of getting close up-and-coming future stars of the Tour - research and development potential for the major equipment manufacturers. On the PGA Tour the "ball count" or the "driver count" are all too often controlled not by the choice of the player as to what equipment they use but rather which company is paying the best bonus pool or that offers the largest endorsement contracts. Mini-tour players pay for much of their own equipment. So they "vote" with their checkbooks and the "count" on mini-tours would be much closer to reality than the count obtained on the PGA Tour. |
Make ProGolfTalk the one-stop clearninghouse for all things
relating to mini-tour professional golf.
- Provide contact information and entry forms for all active mini-tours in the US - Post results from all member mini-tours on a per tournament basis. Tournament administrators would be given password-guarded access to the site in order to post their daily results - Endeavor to require accountability and integrity in order for a mini-tour to be listed - provide links to other golf associations (Buy.com Tour, PGA Tour, USGA, state golf associations, etc.) - Provide an advertising medium for the golf courses and real estate developments where mini-tour events are played. - Provide an advertising medium for mini-tour promoters by being strategically placed in all effective web search engines - Seek to develop a club-testing R&D relationship with equipment manufacturers - Seek to develop a personal-use-discount program with manufacturers for players on accredited mini-tours. This program would lead to heightened brand loyalty among players and toward a future of a full endorsement contact later as a player gains success. - Advanced instruction focusing only upon the more accomplished player |
When a player begins a life as a professional golfer he/she needs a way
to build a tangible record of their success. Newspaper clippings and magazine
results are an important part of being able to show potential sponsors that a
player has been competing, shooting good scores and making money.
We plan for an bi-weekly newspaper-type publication that would post: We Need Your Help! We want to promote not only organized mini-tours but also independently operated pro tournaments. We need help from:
-golf professionals If you can provide us with contact info. on mini-tours and independent tournaments that you are aware of it would be greatly appreciated ! We'll be sure to add them to our site.
