What Would It Be Like? (cont.)

...But with an audience, with people watching, a player doesn’t want to embarrass him or herself, so they keep concentrating. Being watched becomes an aid to good practice.

It helps the ego too. If a player has skills, it is usually accompanied by a healthy ego. The thought is “I deserve to be watched because I’m good”. “Appreciate me, appreciate my skills.”

What would it be like to be watched in everything you did? Every time you scratch your nose, or fix your underwear, or scurry to the port-a-john? Being watched is a double-edged sword.

What would it be like to always practice in pristine conditions, on the most finely manicured courses? What would it be like to practice on range grass that is better than the fairways of most courses? What would it be like to practice with brand new pro-line balls of your choice? At Bay Hill, tables of range balls await the players. If you’re a ProV 1 player we’ve got that. If you’re a Nike Tour Accuracy player, we’ve got that. All new balls, all the time. No hitting Top-Rocks. No sculls that go 60% of their distance even if you put a pure swing on it. Nothing but brand new, consistent, high performance golf balls.

What would it be like to be able to experiment with any club you could ever imagine?
At every stop on the PGA Tour equipment manufacturers present their wares to the players. (See photo). Bags with hundreds of clubs with every imaginable combination of shaft, head, length and weight await the experimentation of the players. And best of all, everything is offered to the players for free. FREE. Anything you want. If they don’t have exactly what you need, they’ll make it for you. Right there, on the spot.

What would it be like to have every imaginable option at your fingertips?

It may be a struggle to get there. It may be a long road to travel. But once you make it to the PGA Tour life gets easier. On the PGA Tour the players are served and watched. Not a bad life.
